Jamie Luffman has over 25 years of fire service experience, spending 17 years with DuPont Co. in Industrial Fire, 14 years with Wilson Co. EMA in Municipal Fire, 11 years as a Nurse Tech at Summit Emergency Department and various medical missions for International Medical Alliance of Tennessee culminating to the past three years with the Fire Department of Mt. Juliet.
He has held the rank of Firefighter, AEMT, Lieutenant, Captain, Commander, Assistant Chief and now Chief. He is a past instructor for Firefighter Safety & Survival and Healthcare Provider BLS/CPR/AED. Chief Luffman has received fire service education from TFACA, TSB Fire Academy, and Volunteer State Community College. Chief Luffman also serves Mt Juliet as the Fire Marshal and is an Assistant to the Commissioner, State of TN Dept. of Commerce & Insurance State Fire Marshal’s Office.
Chief Luffman is a lifelong resident of Mt. Juliet. He is a member of the MJ Help Center Board of Directors and has taught Sunday School at West Hills Baptist Church for 15 years. He is married to his wife, Jill, and they have a son, Josh.
Deputy Fire Chief Joseph Edwards
Joseph Edwards is the Deputy Fire Chief for the Fire Department of Mt. Juliet. During his career, he has held positions at the City of Shelbyville, TN, Department of Defense, and the State of Tennessee serving most recently as the Campus Supervisor for the State Fire Academy.
He has held multiple ranks within the fire service and has an extensive background in management and leadership of fire service personnel. Deputy Chief Edwards holds numerous national certifications and degrees, including Fire Officer IV. He is an active member on multiple committees nationally that deal with emergency services, training and curriculum on national standards. He is credentialed by the Center for Public Safety Excellence as a Chief Training Officer and is a member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs and the Tennessee Fire Chiefs Association.
Deputy Chief Edwards is also a published author and speaker. His work has been featured in fire service magazines, textbooks, and presentations at national conferences. In his free time, he enjoys helping his wife at her woodworking business, landscaping, and being with family. He and his wife Brooke have 2 sons, Brady and Riley.
Eric Newman is the EMS Chief for the Fire Department of Mt. Juliet. Chief Newman comes to the Mt. Juliet Fire Department from Vanderbilt LifeFlight working for the past 9 years there functioning as a Flight Paramedic, Manager, and Associate Director. Prior to this experience, he served as the Assistant Director and Director for EMS in Lauderdale County, Tennessee for 8 years. Eric has served in many other EMS capacities since 1998 as well, mainly in west Tennessee.
Eric holds a Master of Science in Healthcare Administration from Liberty University, National Registry Paramedic, Critical Care – Paramedic, Flight Paramedic, IC.
Chief Newman manages all operations and functions of the emergency medical services for the Fire Department.
